Preparing a shift handover
Begin with open exceptions, then review the next two hours of arrivals. The outgoing planner should leave a clear owner and the last confirmed action for every load that still needs attention.
Use separate arrival and release timestamps so a vehicle waiting for paperwork does not appear to occupy an unloading bay. Review any changed appointment with the receiving shift.
Keep a short note beside the original dispatch reference. A good handover explains the next decision without requiring another call to the person who has just finished work.
